Creation was Good

“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.” - Genesis 1:31

Creation was good. It was a beautiful place of love and happiness. But that all changed when a rule wasn’t obeyed. A single tree was forbidden. A whole garden was available, but one little single tree was forbidden. The devil has used temptation from the beginning. Telling us what we have isn’t good enough. Did Adam and Eve need that tree for any reason? The Bible says God provided them with everything they needed, but they still made a choice to go against Him. We all know this story.  We all know what happened and didn’t happen. We say things like, “man, if they just would have moved on from the tree and told the devil no, this world would look so different” or, “the world is so evil because of a woman and an apple.” Sin has been a leading force in this creation. The world is sad, painful, and ugly because it wasn’t ever meant to be used this way. It was made of love and hope and a place for God to fellowship with us. So why was the tree even there? God is very clear that man has free will on this Earth.  Everyone is able to make their own choices. God really wants us to choose Him in every situation, but He gives us free will. That tree was a choice for man. The choice should have been easy. God had given them everything. Why not be content? Not being happy with what they had made the way for generations upon generations of choices where man chose themselves. That’s why God sent His son, not only as a pure sacrifice for our sins, but as an example of what choosing God’s way looks like. God loves us so much. He gave us a way back to Him by the sacrifice of His perfect son. Let’s make the choice to give back to God what He gives us. He gives us love, so it should be really easy to return that to Him. We just have to choose His way. His way is the only way to have peace in this world. His will is the best way! The devil’s will is to destroy you. Don’t let him use your own choices to lead you to destruction. The Bible says, be content, be happy, say no to the devil, and love others more than yourself. Are you doing these things? If not, it’s time to change it up.

Here are some key verses that can be a great start to building a foundation in your life with Christ as the focus. The only way to heaven is through Jesus. And that way is living and loving just like Him. Get these verses imbedded in your heart:

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’” - Hebrews 13:5

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Reject every kind of evil - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18,22

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” - Mark 12:30-31
