The Time Machine

"What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun" - Ecclesiastes 1:9

Solomon realized he was watching the same things happening over and over again. He realized that what his father went through, he was going through. There was greatness and power, but there were also mistakes. Very, very similar mistakes. We don’t have to have a Time Machine to go to the future to see how it will be. What you are doing right now will be the future. Really pay attention to how your mom and dad lived and just see if there are similarities in their greatnesses and weaknesses. See if you are following in their footsteps in the good way but maybe being tested and pulled into their bad ways. The devil doesn’t just come to ruin you; he comes to ruin the future. Whatever you give in to automatically goes to the future to try and get them to do the same. It’s what happened in all your mistakes, your parents’ mistakes, their parents’ mistakes, and so on. These ways we pass down over and over are called idol ways. The ways of our ancestors. It shows we exalt the wrongs of our lineage. We trust in those ways. These ways go back as far as you can even dig into. God warned them all!

“Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.’ But they would not listen or pay attention to me, declares the Lord.” - Zechariah 1:4

God is a father. One that always has a solution. He sent His son to show us how to live. He wanted us to quit with the mistakes of the old and follow Jesus to live His way. To change the course of our lives. The old ways brought death and despair and pain and anguish. But the new way brought Jesus. He came with life! He came to start us over! A new life. Being reborn in Jesus. He is a breaker of generational curses. He defeated death so we could start a new life in His family. So He could pass on to us His spirits, the good fruits. In this way, our children and their children could be free.

“For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” - 1 Peter 1:18-19.

Jesus came to give us His ways so when He returned home, we could all call God our father. So we could be children of God. Jesus did His job. Now it’s up to us to do our part. Let go of the past! Create your future. If anything you are doing right now isn’t something you want for your future, repent and put Jesus there. Do it how He did so your future will not be tempted with that mistake. Help the past if you can so they can be free from the idol ways also. We don’t need a Time Machine. The way we are living now is the past. But the way we choose to live right now WILL be our future.

“Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” - 1 John 5:5

Believing in Jesus is trusting in Jesus. And that’s changing to His ways and becoming a child of God. Reap and sow is a rule of this creation. We will never get away with anything. You will be paid back. But your future is what pays. How you treat men, that’s how your sons will be treated. How you treat women, that’s how your daughters will be treated. But humility and ownership of these mistakes will clear it straight of your future.

“Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” - Galatians 6:8

Let’s start sowing good! Let’s take the past out of the future and give it to Jesus instead.

"If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me" - Matthew 16:24

Deny yourself by saying no to your old ways. Pick up the cross by accepting what He has done for you and follow His ways.

“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be My disciple.” - Luke 14:26

Why does Jesus tell us to love everyone but hate those closest to you? He’s not. He is calling us to hate the ways of those we love. He is not speaking on their flesh. Jesus is looking within to the heart. He wants us to hate the ways, the spirits, of those that can affect us. If we hate those ways, we can overcome for the future and then go help other families!

Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.” - Psalm 24-3:4
