Heart Scan

1 Corinthians 11:31: "For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged."

Jesus came here with a mission to connect man back to God. Sin and evil had disconnected everyone in creation. Man was living for the devil, so salvation wasn’t here. Jesus came here to show us the way to live so we could have a chance at salvation. He showed us how to love each other so we could have a heart that could return home to Heaven. Then, after showing us the way to live, He died for our sins so we could start over with a clean slate. This clean slate should be used to live righteously. Many are teaching that His death was an excuse to live anyway you want and still make heaven. These false teachings are sending man straight to hell.

Matthew 5:17 says, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” The law as before still stands, but what was missing? What was man not understanding?  Jeremiah 17:10 says, “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” To give according to his ways is to judge. God searches the heart to judge man, not actions.

Moses gave us the commandments in Exodus, and 20:13 says, “Thou shalt not murder”. We see murder as someone physically killing someone. What does God call a murderer? Jesus came to show us. In Matthew 5:21-22, Jesus says, “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment.” God searches your heart to judge if you murder. If he sees you angry with others in there, then he sees you as a murderer. “You shall not commit adultery.” Again, God does not watch the actions. You have to have the thought to have the action. The thought is what He pays attention to. That’s why Jesus came to tell us, “But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Jesus told us how to feel in our hearts so we can stay connected to God. And that’s where salvation is! You know when you have salvation by the peace you have and love you give because you are one with Jesus, which then allows us to be God’s people. Jesus came to teach us the law IN HEART. Not by what our actions are but by what our hearts really feel. And that’s what God searches. That’s what He tests. That’s what He sees. That’s what He judges.

We should all do a heart scan on ourselves. We should test and judge our own hearts and see what’s really in there. We must clean out everything in there that is blocking us from a relationship with God. Through Jesus is the only way to have that relationship. So we must clean up to be just like Him. I challenge you to read the law and apply them to your heart. Read the gospel to learn how Jesus explains the truth of the law. Don’t be deceived!!

Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” - Proverbs 4:23
