Hold Your Peace

“And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cutoff his right ear. But Jesus said, “No more of this!” And he touched his ear and healed him.” - Luke 22:50-51

Peace is what we are all searching for. And God wants us all to find Him so we can find peace. He sent his son, the Prince of Peace, here to show us how to live so we could follow his ways. The ways of peace. Picture this moment described in the scripture above. Jesus was just betrayed by one of his own and now the soldiers are surrounding him to capture him.Tension is high, no one is peaceful. The soldiers are there with hate and those with Jesus are angry and scared. Jesus knows exactly what is coming. But even with all this going on, and all the spirits of fear and hate and anger around him, he heals a man’s ear. An ear that was completely cut off, that ear is now healed. Can you even imagine?! Healing comes from Heaven. So you must be connected to Heaven to heal. Heaven is peaceful. So the only way to be connected to Heaven is to be peaceful. So Jesus held his peace. Even in this moment that had zero peace, Jesus was peaceful. How? Because he wasn’t there in that moment. He was in the future. He was seeing how one day you and me would need his blood to wash our sins away and be born again. He knew disconnecting from Heaven would mess his mission up. He knew that the future was wonderful. He knew who he was. He knew he could overcome anything because of who his father was. So he could not be shaken. God created us and knows exactly what we can do. And the Bible says what we can do is everything. We do not have limits when we have God. We can overcome all situations. And we can do it all with peace. But the devil has us convinced that we can’t. He tells us that anger is justified. He tells us that sadness is normal. He tells us that giving up is what is best for you right now. But he’s a liar. He just wants to use your God given power against you and take your strength from you. The devil is jealous of man. “Who is man that I should be mindful of?” (Job 7:17) He wants what we have. God made us just like him. We are above all things of this world. We have everything we need to overcome all situations. We just need to go closer to God by living like Jesus and turning from sin. We are so very special to God. Don’t let the devil lie to you anymore! God tells us in His Word to be happy ALWAYS. He doesn’t want us angry or sad or weak. The devil does because he knows all those emotions pull you away from peace. Hold your peace by holding on to Jesus. John 14:12 says, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” If we choose to live like Jesus, not only can we do all the miracles that Christ did, but we can do even greater! Through our perfect teacher, Jesus. So hold your peace in all situations. Give it all to God and you will be victorious like Jesus.
