“The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” - Galatians 5:19-24
The Fruits of the Spirit are a wonderful way to test your heart. Have you really accepted Jesus in your heart? Do you have salvation? Matthew 7:17 says, “A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit.” Whatever you put into your heart is what you give out to others. When you accept Jesus in your heart, you accept love. So everything you give to others should come from love only. This means everything you do should be done in love. We all need to start putting love back into this creation. How can we do that? By us all deciding to change and deciding to sacrifice our emotions to allow God to use us His way. This all starts with us looking into our hearts and paying attention to our motives. Do we correct our children with love or frustration? Do we have patience with the driver that isn’t in a hurry like we are? Do we have a heart that wants to help people or a heart that wants to judge people? Are we showing true compassion from the heart, or fake compassion just for others to see? Do we not use anger in any situation but instead let God take over? Are we slow to react to we make sure we can hear from God first and react in His way and not our own selfish ways? Are we always happy in every situation no matter what and trust God to handle all? To be born again means we must use God’s standard in all situations. Not what we think is right, but what God tells us is right. Do we use the same standard Jesus showed us as he walked in the flesh on this Earth? Learn what the Fruits of the Spirit really mean so you can make changes today that will change others. Only love can change this world. We must get rid of all emotions that put hate and fear into this creation.
