Working for Jesus: Soldiers of Light

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:34-35

Love one another, as I have loved you. This verse tells us that there is truly only one way to love. And that is how Jesus loved us. He wants us to love one another just like he loves. God is love. 1 John 4:7-8 tells us, "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” God wants us to be soldiers of love, soldiers of light, soldiers straight from heaven that work for God and help bring others back home to him. He is God, He is the creator of all things, He is in control, He is power, He is strength, He knows all, He is love, and He loves us very much. He knows what this creation needs to work peacefully and joyfully. And He can talk to any of us at any time to spread His love. Imagine this. Your neighbor is trying to figure out how to get her children to school. The car is on E and she doesn’t get paid until later that day. So she prays, “God, if you can hear me, please help me. I don’t know what to do.” You are getting your children in the car and God says to you, “Offer to give a ride to the neighbor’s children.” God has given you love to spread to others. He has spoken to you, now you hold his love, and the choice is yours on what you do with it. If you hear God and say “no, I don’t have time”, or “no, they don’t deserve it,” the love stops with you, you lose light, and the creation loses light. You have taken the love of God and given it to darkness. If you hear God and follow the instruction, but in your heart you grumble or complain about doing it, this also gives God’s love to darkness. 1 John 3:18 says, “Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” Your actions must match your heart or your actions are giving power to darkness. God’s love is power! It can change the whole world in an instant. If you hear the instruction, you agree that it’s a wonderful thing to do, and go with happiness to do it, you have now spread God’s love. You have taken on light; your actions are now full of light, and the person receiving also receives light. The transfer of God from heaven to this creation is complete! And the power of evil in this world starts to die, and God takes over again.  When the neighbor sees you and hears your request, she immediately sees God. She knows he is there and that he heard her prayer. She is forever changed. You now have proven to God you are trustworthy of his love. And He might speak again. “Tell my daughter that I love her.” So you say, “Something is telling me to tell you that God loves you.” This might be confusing at first, but you do it. The love just keeps growing. The light around you two is now spreading across your neighborhood. Even bigger than that, your children are receiving so much light and peace, and they are being packed full of love that they can share. Let your body be a vessel of light, working for Jesus, spreading God’s love. Remember at all times that actions must line up with the heart for the world to be changed. There are a lot of people out there who are ”doing good” physically, but they are not spreading love at all because the heart is negative about spreading God’s love. A negative heart cannot transfer anything to this world, except negativity and darkness. Have a heart of Jesus so you can always be ready to work for Him and bring God back to this creation.
